Bruce Brown had arthroscopic surgery on his knee. He will be reevaluated in 3 weeks. Brown is playing on an expiring 23 million 1 year contract this season with Toronto.
The Hawks AJ Griffin is stepping away from basketball for mental health reasons. He is 21 years old and was picked 16th overall in 2022 NBA draft. It was highlighted for personal reasons and family related issues. In the past this has typically meant that the athlete has dealt with mental health issues, but I do not want to speculate for that is the case. In 2022 Tyrell Terry retired from professional basketball at the age of 22 due to an anxiety disorder. For me, this one kind of hits home as I do struggle with anxiety on day-to-day basis and did consider quitting basketball at one point because of how serve it got. I received the help I needed and now have the proper tools to combat my anxiety its levels increase. Mental health is something that has become more and more talked about in the NBA. Both Kevin Love and DeMar DeRozan have talked in the past about dealing with depression and anxiety. I think it is something that is still not talked about enough currently. It is important to ask people how they are doing on a day-to-day basis. whether it's your best friend or someone you just met, anyone could be facing challenges we do not know about. It it also important to make people feel safe about opening up. It is one of the hardest things to do when struggling and is something that took a long time for me to do. I don't want to make this about me, but mental health is topic I have become more passionate about in the last couple of years and talking about my experiences on here may help someone else stay safe to open up about how they are feeling.
